According to the new news, the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 uses an 8-core CPU and two Cortex-X4 high-performance cores in a 2+4+2 layout. It will be manufactured at TSMC’s N4P node and will be available in October.
Some time ago, Twitter leaker @tech_reve correctly predicted that MediaTek will launch the Dimensity 9200+ in May 2023. Shortly after, the chipmaker unveiled a mid-cycle update on May 10. Now, we have some new information about the sequel from the same source. Dimension 9300 is scheduled for release in October 2023.

MediaTek’s upcoming flagship will have two Cortex-X4, four Cortex-A7xx and two Cortex-A5xx cores in a 2+4+2 configuration. Unfortunately, neither the cluster’s clock speed nor whether the Dimensity 9300 would utilise Arm’s most recent Cortex-A cores are mentioned in the study. The GPU is also a mystery, but it points to a successor to the Immortalis G715 (arm Immortalis G720?).
If the above information is accurate, MediaTek is following Qualcomm’s lead. Previous leaks have suggested that Snapdragon Gen 3 will come in two variants, a 1+5+2 CPU core layout and a 2+4+2 CPU core layout. Additionally, both APs will be manufactured on TSMC’s advanced N4P node, effectively putting them on a level playing field.
It will be interesting to see how MediaTek handles the Dimensity 9300’s heat. Two Cortex-X4 cores means a lot of extra heat, and MediaTek may have to tweak the clocks to keep power consumption down. Uarch also needs to be redesigned to optimize workload distribution between the two prime cores. The Dimensity 9300, like its predecessor, is anticipated to make its debut with the Vivo X100 series in late 2023.
