The 2024 Grammy Awards are here with SZA
The 66th Grammy Awards will bee held on Sunday at Crypto
There are many reasons to be enthusiastic about this Sunday’s 66th Grammy Awards, which will be held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Women outnumber men in major categories, so expect to see the spotlight on its female nominees.
According to Grammy executive producer Ben Winston, “that’s really what the whole show is about — it’s dominated by women,” The Associated Press said. “It’s something we’re really celebrating,” added his fellow EP Raj Kapoor. “It’s almost unprecedented.”
Comedian Trevor Noah will host for the fourth year in a row, history could be made, and unlike any other awards show. The Grammys doubles as a concert featuring the world’s biggest artists.
At eight o’clock in the evening, the main program will go live on CBS and Paramount+. Paramount+ is available to Showtime subscribers both live and on VOD. The event won’t be available for streaming until the next day for Paramount+ Essential subscribers.
E! will air its “Live from E!: Countdown to the Grammys” show with a mix of fashion coverage and celebrity interviews beginning at 6 p.m. Eastern, with comic Heather McMahon and host Laverne Cox.
2024 Grammy Awards Here’s SZA, Phoebe Bridgers, and Victoria Monet
The Associated Press will also air a three-hour red carpet show with interviews and fashion footage. It will be available on YouTube, Twitter and AP’s website starting at 4 pm. Eastern.
With nine nominations, SZA is the front-runner, followed by Victoria Monet and Phoebe Bridgers with seven each. Bridgers’ band Boygenius consists of six, including Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Brandi Clark, Batiste and producer Jack Antonoff.
“Barbie” fans have reason to celebrate. The movie will bee well-represented at the Grammy Awards, just as it did at the box office. Eleven nominations for songs from the popular movie’s soundtrack have bee received, with four of the five spots going to Visual Media Songs.
There are also some chances to make history: A black woman hasn’t won album of the year since 1999. When “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” took the top prize.Janelle Monae or SZA may make a difference this year.
If Taylor Swift takes home Album of the Year, she breaks the record for the artist with the most wins with four.Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey might win their first Grammys.
Victoria Monet’s 2-year-old daughter Hazel will become the youngest Grammy winner if her Hollywood performance wins best traditional R&B performance. If she wins for “Mana Serra Bonito,” Carole G could become the first female artist to win in the Best Musica Urbana Album category. Jack Antonoff could tie Babyface as Producer of the Year with a third win in 2024. The producer with the most consecutive wins in a non-classical category.
Too many people! The list includes: SZA, Joni Mitchell’s first-time Grammy performance, and five-time Grammy winner and 23-time nominee Billy Joel.
In addition, Travis Scott, Olivia Rodrigo, Burna Boy, Dua Lipa, Luke Combs, Billie Eilish, and Burna Boy—all Grammy winners and current nominees—are on the roster.
